Kate Fletcher (CEO)

About

Growing up in a high wildfire risk area, Kate decided to pursue an educational background in environmental politics and ecosystem management at the University of California, Berkeley. This included learning in wildfire ecology through field-based methods at the UC Berkeley Forestry Camp in the Plumas National Forest, and studying international disaster risk reduction from experts at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.

Through a climate gerontology research apprenticeship under the UC Berkeley School of Social Welfare, Kate co-authored a book chapter that focuses on community-based solutions in climate disaster resilience for older adults and disabled individuals. Aging and Climate Change will be published by Policy Press in late 2026.

After graduating, Kate worked as a Disaster Recovery Case Manager, supporting families affected by the January 2025 Eaton and Palisades Fires. Today, Kate works as a Wildfire Resilience Program Coordinator, focusing on community wildfire preparedness education, supporting and empowering local organizations, and fostering collaboration in the San Gabriel Valley foothills.

In June 2025, Kate founded Blueblossom LLC, which specializes in supporting local organizations such as fire safe councils, HOAs, and non-profit organizations, with building climate resilience in their communities, specializing in community engagement through digital communications.
